The technician found the AC system had 0.00 lbs of freon. At our Lake Wales shop, the team connected AC equipment, evacuated the system of contaminants, verified system pressures and refrigerant levels, then charged it with the proper refrigerant and oil capacity. The system was leak tested and UV dye was added, so any leak can be found with special UV glasses if the vehicle blows warm again.

The vehicle owner reported that the fan intermittently worked and blew cold air only sometimes. Both the AC and the recirculation buttons now needed to be pushed in to feel anything.
The technician found the system was low on freon, reading 0.00 lbs, and no leaks were found at that time. At our Lake Wales shop, the team evacuated the R134A air conditioning system, recharged it, and added UV leak detection dye. The vehicle owner was asked to return within 2-3 weeks at no charge so the team could check for dye showing where a leak may be, since further testing may be needed for a complete answer.

The customer reported the air conditioning was not blowing cold air as expected and was more cool than cold. It got worse on hotter days, and it blew colder when the vehicle was moving but diminished significantly in heavy traffic.
The technician found the system had 0.00 lbs of freon when it should have had 0.00 lbs. At our Lake Wales shop, the team removed and replaced the A/C compressor, then evacuated and recharged the R134A system with the proper refrigerant and oil capacity. UV dye was added so any leak could be located later with special UV glasses, and the customer was invited to return at no charge if the vehicle blows warm again.

The technician found a leaking expansion valve, described in the notes as a very simple one. The technician replaced the expansion valve at our Lake Wales shop. The notes add that further testing may be needed for a complete answer.
After the replacement, the AC was operating as it should.

We can, and sometimes that's the right call on a system that's only slightly low with no evidence of a leak. But if the system lost enough to stop cooling, it lost it somewhere, and refilling it without finding that spot means paying for the same refrigerant twice. We'd rather look first and tell you what it will take.
Three ways, usually in this order. Refrigerant carries oil with it, so the first pass is looking for the oily film a leak leaves on fittings, hoses and seals. Then an electronic detector, which picks up traces at the joint itself. For slow leaks we add UV dye, run the system, and bring the car back under a black light so the leak has time to mark its own location.
If it's clear water under the passenger side after the AC has been running, that's condensation coming off the drain tube and it's exactly what should happen in this humidity. What isn't normal is that water showing up inside on the carpet, or a puddle that's colored, slick or sweet smelling. Bring those in.
We don't sell a recharge on a mileage interval, because a sealed system that's cooling properly doesn't need one. What is worth doing is checking vent temperature and the cabin filter during a regular inspection, so a slow loss gets caught while it's still cheap. If a system needs refrigerant every year to stay cold, the honest answer is that it's leaking every year.
Yes, and it costs you nothing to do it. The compressor's seals stay lubricated by refrigerant oil circulating through the system, and a system that sits unused all winter is more likely to weep at those seals. Running the defroster does it automatically on most vehicles, since the AC compressor runs in defrost mode to dry the air.
