Tire Pressure Light On and Sensors Need Checking
What the customer reported
The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light was illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle owner asked for the sensors to be checked.
What we found and did
At our Sebring shop, the technician began with an initial assessment at no charge. The team then performed a TPMS install on all 4 wheels, done without a same-day new tire installation. Mounting and installing 4 tires with an alignment was recommended but was not performed on this visit.

TPMS Service in Sebring: questions answered
Answered by our licensed technicians serving Sebring.
Can I just ignore the TPMS light?
You can drive with it on, but you're driving blind on pressure from then on. That's a bad trade in a state where summer heat and long highway runs are already hard on underinflated tires.
How long do TPMS sensors last?
Years, but not forever. The battery is sealed in the sensor and it runs down over time, and they usually start failing one at a time as a set gets older. There's no way to know the exact day, so we test them rather than guess.
Can the battery in a sensor be replaced?
No. It's sealed inside a molded housing, so replacing a dead sensor means a new sensor, not a new battery. Anyone who tells you otherwise is describing something these parts don't do.
Do I need new sensors every time I buy tires?
No. Working sensors go right back in. What does get replaced at mounting is the service kit: the seals, grommet, and valve hardware around the sensor, since reusing those is how a slow leak starts.
Why does the system need a relearn?
The car has to know which sensor is at which corner, and that mapping changes when wheels move or sensors are replaced. The procedure differs by make and model, and some vehicles handle it on their own after a short drive.
