What Caused the Tire Wear and Chopping?

The Problem

The vehicle owner noticed unusual tire wear and chopping on their tires.

What We Found

The technician found that the tires were chopped due to failed shocks, which had been previously recommended for monitoring.

The Fix

The team at our Lake Wales shop mounted and installed two new tires to match the existing ones on the vehicle. They also performed a BG brake fluid service to replace the dark and moisture-laden fluid, ensuring the brake system was refreshed and functioning optimally.

The Result

The vehicle left the shop with improved tire performance and a safer brake system.

Pro Tip

If you notice uneven tire wear, it could be a sign of suspension issues. Addressing these early can prevent further damage and save on costly repairs later.

Uneven Tire Wear and Safety Concerns

The Problem

The vehicle owner came in for an oil change and mentioned that the front tires were wearing unevenly.

What We Found

The technician found that both front tires had uneven wear on the outer tread, with the outer tread being bald.

The Fix

The team at our Lake Wales shop rotated the tires and used a calibration tool to learn the new position for the TPMS system. They also mounted and installed two new front tires to address the safety concern.

The Result

With the new tires installed, the vehicle was safer to drive and had improved traction.

Pro Tip

Uneven tire wear often indicates alignment or suspension issues. Regularly rotating your tires and checking alignment can extend tire life and improve safety.

What Causes Squealing Noises and Shaking in My Car?

The Problem

The vehicle owner reported a squealing noise from the engine area and noticeable shaking while the car was running.

What We Found

The technician identified the squealing noise was due to a faulty idler pulley, and the shaking was caused by separated front tires with no tread.

The Fix

The team replaced the idler pulley to address the noise issue. They also installed a new set of four tires to resolve the shaking problem. Additionally, they performed a tune-up for the 8-cylinder engine and flushed the brake fluid, which had become dark and moisture-laden.

The Result

After the repairs, the vehicle ran smoothly without any noise or shaking, ensuring a safer and more comfortable driving experience.

Pro Tip

If your engine area starts squealing, it might be a worn idler pulley. Addressing it early can prevent belt damage and more costly repairs.

FAQ

Tire Installation in Lake Wales: questions answered

Answered by our licensed technicians serving Lake Wales.

Can I have tires shipped directly to the shop?

Yes. Let us know they're on the way and which location they're headed to, and we'll receive them and get you on the schedule. It saves you hauling four tires around in your back seat.

Will you install just one tire?

Sure. One tire, two, or a full set, we'll put on what you've got. If mixing a new tire with worn ones is a problem for your particular vehicle, we'll explain why before we do it rather than after.

What is a TPMS relearn and does my car need one?

It's the step that teaches your vehicle which pressure sensor is at which corner after the wheels have been off or the sensors disturbed. Without it, the dash can show the wrong tire or leave a warning light on. If your vehicle has sensors, that step is part of the installation.

Can you mount tires on wheels that aren't attached to a car?

Yes. Bring the wheels and tires in on their own and we'll mount and balance them so they're ready to bolt on. Just know we can't torque them to your car or run a sensor relearn without the vehicle here.

What if the tires I bought aren't right for my vehicle?

We check size, load rating, and speed rating against what your vehicle calls for before anything goes on the machine. If something doesn't match up, you'll hear about it while you can still exchange them. We'd rather have that conversation up front than install something we're not comfortable with.
