Check Engine Light Back On After a Recent Repair
What the customer reported
The vehicle owner reported the vehicle was showing the same issues it had before the most recent repair, and the check engine light was illuminated again.
What we found and did
During testing, the technician found new issues not related to any previous repairs: a rattle noise from the timing chains and gears, and a leaking oil filter/adapter gasket. The oil filter was also found loose, and the oil change was overdue by 23k+ miles per CarFax. At our Lake Wales shop, the team performed the oil filter housing/adapter service along with a full synthetic oil change to vehicle specs. A timing chain with cam phasers was recommended because of the rattle noise, but that work was not performed on this visit, and further testing may be needed for a complete answer.

Oil Light On and Radio Screen Blank on a Hyundai or Kia
What the customer reported
The vehicle owner reported a CEL, a blank radio screen, and exterior lighting concerns, and the vehicle was also in for an LOF.
What we found and did
The vehicle was very low on oil, not registering on the dipstick, which turned on the oil light and was likely causing intermittent issues with the camshaft actuators. The technician performed a digital inspection and an LOF oil change with FULL SYNTHETIC oil to vehicle specs, noting the next step was to start there and re-test. The technician also noted known oil consumption (common in Hyundai/Kia), said it must be monitored, and recommended closer to 3,000 miles between oil changes.

No. Federal law protects your right to have routine maintenance done where you choose, as long as it meets the manufacturer's specification and gets documented. We record the oil and filter that went in and the date and mileage, so you have the paperwork if it ever comes up.
