Why Are My RPMs High at Idle?
The Problem
The vehicle owner noticed that the RPMs would go high when the vehicle was idling or driving.
What We Found
The technician conducted a smoke machine emissions test and found issues with the PCV valve and intake manifold gaskets.
The Fix
The team replaced the faulty PCV valve and hose, as well as the intake manifold gaskets, including the valve cover gaskets. They also performed a complete coolant system flush to address acidic coolant that could damage the water pump, radiator, and thermostat.
The Result
After the repairs, the vehicle operated smoothly with normal RPM levels during idle and driving.
Pro Tip
High RPMs at idle often point to issues with the PCV valve or intake gaskets. Addressing these promptly can prevent more severe engine problems and maintain optimal performance.

What Does a Complete Coolant System Flush Involve?
The Problem
The vehicle owner came in for a routine oil change and mentioned concerns about potential maintenance needs.
What We Found
During the inspection, the technician noted that the coolant was acidic, which could damage the water pump, radiator, and thermostat.
The Fix
The team at our Frostproof shop performed a BG Complete Coolant System Flush. They used a BG machine to withdraw and flush out all fluids from the engine and radiator, then refreshed the system with new fluid to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
The Result
The vehicle left the shop with a refreshed coolant system, reducing the risk of future damage to key components.
Pro Tip
Coolant that turns acidic can damage your engine's water pump and radiator. Flushing and replacing it every 30,000 miles helps prevent costly repairs and keeps your engine running smoothly.

Coolant Flush in Frostproof: questions answered
Answered by our licensed technicians serving Frostproof.
Will a flush fix my overheating?
Almost never, and we will tell you that before you spend the money. When a vehicle overheats we pressure test the system, check the thermostat, water pump, fan operation, and radiator flow, and look for combustion gases in the coolant. A flush on top of a failing part just delays the real repair.
Can I just add coolant instead of having it flushed?
Adding coolant restores the level, it does not restore the additive package that has already been used up. It also skips the more important question, which is why the level went down in the first place. If a system is losing coolant, that is a leak to find.
Does the color tell me what type of coolant I have?
Not reliably. Different chemistries have been sold in the same colors and the same chemistry shows up in different colors depending on the brand. We go by what your manufacturer specifies for your vehicle rather than by what is in the bottle.
What if the wrong coolant is already in my system?
Bring it in and let us look. Sometimes the fix is a full flush and refill with the correct type, and sometimes the mixing has already caused deposits that need more attention than that. Either way you want to know before it plugs a heater core.
How often should coolant be changed?
Your owner's manual sets the interval for your vehicle, and the range between vehicles is wide enough that a shop quoting one number for everything is not paying attention. Florida heat and towing both work the coolant harder. Testing tells us where yours actually is between those intervals.
